The Ilona boho dress

The Ilona boho dress
This morning I've been working on the final touches on a new prototype:

I thought it would be fun to share with you a little glimpse into the process of turning a prototype into a style that makes it to our website, and the final result.

When it comes to new styles, I make a "test dress" and see how your ideas turn out in real life. Then I adjust the pattern to make it perfect. In this case, I took a risk and used the last (!) piece of our Sky fabric because I had the feeling that the Ilona dress would turn out lovely.

In this case, after trying on the test dress both on myself and on the mannequin, I decided to alter the bodice and waistline seam to improve the fit. The neckline of this dress is similar to a wrap, with the difference that it has no ties, so you just wear it and you're ready.

Once the alteration is made on the fabric, I transferred it onto the paper pattern,
so that from now on the Ilona dresses will fit as this one.
Next step: finishing the dress adding a soft elastic at the waist.
I choose a soft one so it gives the dress a nice but extra comfortable fit.

The dress turned our even better than I imagined so I decided to upload on our online boutique.

The beautiful fabric of this dress is now sold out, so if you're looking for a really unique piece that will make you stand out whenever you go, well, this could be the one.
